Package 1: Complete End of Life Support

  • End of life planning

    End of life planning incudes more practical aspects of death. Do you have a will? Do you have a power of attorney appointed? What would you like done with your physical body after death? Where would you like to spend your last days of life? What kind of physical or medical interventions would you like or not like?

    Life retrospective/ Legacy Project

    In one on one sessions we will look at the life you’ve lived, what you’re proud of, what you regret, what you wish you could have done, looking at everything you’ve been through in order to process, and to honor the life you’ve lived. A Legacy Project can be created in conjunction with the life retrospective as a creative expression of how you would like to be remembered. This project can be done by the dying person or their family or friends.

    Co-creation of Last Breath Ceremony

    A last breath ceremony is held in the few days before death occurs. This ceremony is completely what you want it to be. The purpose is to come together to do a final celebration or ritual to mark your last days, perhaps say goodbyes or until later’s. It can include any spiritual, or religious ceremonies, or symbols.

    Co-creation Vigil

    Sitting vigil will typically commence after a lot breath ceremony. In this time, you will mostly likely want those people with whom you have the most intimate relationships. Sitting vigil can last a few days, so together we create what you want these final days to look like. What kind of general atmosphere would you like? What music would you like? Would you like any spiritual or religious rituals performed? Who would you like present?

    Grief and Reprocessing for family & friends after death

    After death, a grief and reprocessing session will be facilitated with all those present at the time of your death. This session is held to allow those present with you in your last moments to be able to process what they are feeling after your departure in a group setting.

  • Legacy Project

    A Legacy project is a creative expression of how you, family and/or friends would like your loved one to be remembered.

    Co-creation Vigil

    Sitting vigil will typically in what is estimated to be the last days of life. Sitting vigil can last a few days, so together we create what you want these final days to look like. What kind of general atmosphere would you like? What music would you like? Would you like any spiritual or religious rituals performed? Who would you like present? In the case of family and friends creating the vigil we seek to always follow closely what your dying loved on would like.

    Grief and Reprocessing for family & friends after death

    After death, a grief and reprocessing session will be facilitated with all those present at the time of death. This session is held to allow those present in the last moments of your loved one’s life to be able to process what they are feeling after their departure in a group setting.

  • Each session typically lasts 1.5 hours, however it is dependent on the services requested in the package.

  • A $100 deposit is requested at the time of booking the custom package. A quote for the specific services requested will then be e-mailed directly to you.

The role of a death doula is very broad, and can be adapted to each client’s needs. When first meeting with a death doula, it is important to determine in what ways you would like them to be involved.

Who can hire a death doula?

Anyone can hire a death doula, a dying person, the friend of a dying person, family of a dying person. Sometimes it can be difficult for dying people to confront their own mortality and can be resistant to the assistance of a death doula. In such cases, the death doula will work with the family and friends.

What is a vigil?

A vigil is conducted at the end of life, and is constructed together with the dying person and/or their families and friends to determine what rituals they would like, music, the kind of environment they would like.

How is a death doula involved with friends and family of a dying person?

After death, a death doula will conduct a grief and reprocessing session with those present during the vigil in order to reflect, process, and provide some closure to the dying process. Depending on the level of awareness of the dying person, a death doula can also create vigils, last breath ceremonies and legacy projects with the family and friends as opposed to the dying person.

When to hire a death doula?

A death doula can be hired anytime between when a person discovers they are terminal to the few days prior to death.
